Welcome to Nailsea
Since the 1970s Nailsea has developed into a thriving community made up of the “locals” who remember the time when it was a village and the “newcomers” who came here from the 1960s onwards.
With a population in the region of 18,000 the town is fortunate to be large enough to meet the needs of modern families but small enough to foster a community spirit. Essentially, Nailsea is a rural town nestling in beautiful North Somerset Countryside, just minutes from the Bristol Channel and the Mendip Hills.
The Town has a pedestrianised shopping centre complimented by a traditional village High Street, all served by four free car parks. There are two health centres, several sports centres, a park, sites of historical and wildlife interest, a library, churches, youth clubs and a wide variety of shops, restaurants and cafes.
The attractions of Bristol are a mere 8 miles away served by a good bus and rail link. A trip to the seaside couldn’t be easier with Weston-Mare-Mare being 15 miles away, Clevedon 4 miles away and Portishead 5 away. Not only does Nailsea have a convenient railway station, with direct trains to London and the West Country, but it also lies only three miles from the M5 motorway and ten miles from Bristol International Airport www.bristol-airport-guide.co.uk
The Town has good quality housing in all price ranges and some of the best schools in North Somerset. Just as important though is the fact that the people who have chosen to live in Nailsea have created an abundance of clubs, interest and support groups and activities to suit all ages.
Nailsea has a very active and enthusiastic Town Council whose members are keen to maintain a good quality of life for its inhabitants. To this end the Town Council seeks to add to the existing facilities and offers continued support to local groups to enable them to maintain and extend their work. In April every year the Town Council holds an Annual Town Meeting to explain to the inhabitants the work it has undertaken on their behalf and to seek their views and comments.
These few words can only give you a flavour of what Nailsea has to offer. Should you require any further information please feel free to contact us at the Town Council Office or better still why not come to Nailsea and take a look around?
